SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PERIODIC MATERIAL-BASED SEISMIC ISOLATION FOR UNDERGROUND STRUCTURES
A seismic isolation system for underground structures comprises a periodic foundation and periodic arrays of piles in the soil or periodic piles that surround the underground structure. The periodic foundation may be a foundation of periodic materials. The periodic piles can substantially reduce the incoming seismic waves from the lateral direction. The periodic piles may be vertically arranged layers of periodic materials. The combination of the periodic foundation and periodic piles can result in total isolation for the underground structure. This total isolation may be of particular interest for underground facilities, such as underground nuclear power plants and structures with basements.
L'invention concerne un système d'isolation sismique pour structures souterraines, qui comprend une fondation périodiques et des réseaux périodiques de pieux dans le sol ou des pieux périodiques qui entourent la structure souterraine. La fondation périodique peut être une fondation de matériaux périodiques. Les pieux périodiques peuvent réduire sensiblement les ondes sismiques entrantes provenant de la direction latérale. Les pieux périodiques peuvent être disposés verticalement en couches de matériaux périodiques. La combinaison de la fondation périodique et des pieux périodiques permet d'obtenir une isolation totale pour la structure souterraine. Cette isolation totale peut présenter un intérêt particulier pour des installations souterraines, telles que des centrales nucléaires souterraines et des structures avec sous-sols.
