The drain cover assembly includes: a fluid-impenetrable cover; a telescopic member having a top surface, wherein the cover is disposed on the top surface of the telescopic member, the telescopic member having at least a first position in which the telescopic member is extended and a second position in which the telescopic member is retracted; and a base member having an upper portion defining a first hole, a lower portion defining a second hole, and an interior cavity connecting the first hole and the second hole, wherein at least the cover at least partially seals the first hole when the telescopic member is in the first position or the second position, wherein passage of at least some matter from the first hole through the interior cavity and out of the second hole is enabled when the telescopic member is in the other position.
