The invention relates to a cutting element (3) for cutting material in underwater operations, the cutting element (3) comprising at least first (1) and second (2) cutting sections wherein the first cutting section (1) comprises a first metal alloy and the second cutting section (2) comprises a second metal alloy different to the first metal alloy, wherein the first and second cutting sections (1, 2) are deposited by additive manufacturing and wherein the first and second cutting sections (1, 2) are interconnected by meltbond.
