PLUMBING TRAP WITH BIDIRECTIONAL CLEAN-OUT
Disclosed is a plumbing trap (10) provided with a top access clean out (32A, 32B) for use with a P-trap (30). A horizontal extension conduit (12) has an elbow (14) having a threaded connection (18) for attachment to the P-trap (30). The elbow (14) forms an outside curvature (24) at which is formed the clean out member (32A, 32B) providing bi-directional access within the plumbing passageway. The clean out member (32A), 32B) allows for access without having to remove the P-trap (30) and while fluid flow is maintained within the passageway. The clean out member (32A, 32B) includes an outlet (50A, 50B) aligned along an axis (A2, B2) that is positioned in a vertical plane at a 45° angle relative to a first axis Al of the horizontal extension conduit (12), a 45° angle relative to a second axis of the outlet (16) of the elbow (14) and a 45° angle relative to a horizontal plane which encompasses the first axis. A second clean out member (32B) may be positioned in a mirror image and at a 90° angle to the first clean out.
