NONWOVEN MAT WITH REDUCED PERMEABILITY AND INCREASED CALIPER
A nonwoven mat and a method of making a nonwoven mat are provided. The nonwoven mat includes reinforcing fibers and a binder composition that includes a polycarboxy polymer and polymer microspheres. The binder composition may also include low-density fibers, such as microfibrillated cellulose fibers. The polymer microspheres have a thermoplastic shell that encapsulates a blowing agent. The thermoplastic shell has magnesium hydroxide on its outer surface. The components of the binder composition interact with one another and/or the reinforcing fibers to form a nonwoven mat having a less permeable structure and a higher caliper.
L'invention concerne un tapis non tissé et son procédé de fabrication. Le tapis non tissé comprend des fibres de renfort et une composition de liant qui contient un polymère polycarboxylate et des microsphères polymères. La composition de liant peut également comprendre des fibres à faible densité, telles que des fibres de cellulose microfibrillée. Les microsphères polymères ont une enveloppe thermoplastique qui encapsule un agent gonflant. L'enveloppe thermoplastique comporte de l'hydroxyde de magnésium sur sa surface externe. Les composants de la composition de liant interagissent les uns avec les autres et/ou les fibres de renfort pour former un tapis non tissé ayant une structure moins perméable et une épaisseur supérieure.
