A construction assisting system (SYS) for assisting construction by a shovel (100) comprises a controller (50) that executes a simulation of the operation of the shovel (100) in a virtual environment set on the basis of a work environment of the shovel (100). The controller (50) may execute the simulation on the basis of an output from a space recognition device that recognizes the space around the shovel (100). The space recognition device may be mounted on the shovel (100), or may be installed outside the shovel (100). The construction assisting system (SYS) may also comprise a display device (D1) that displays the result of the simulation by the controller (50).
