In one preferred form of the present invention, there is provided a road-based traffic sensor comprising: a body having a base and an upper portion; the body housing electronic components including a magnetometer and a battery; the magnetometer for monitoring changes in magnetic field; the body having a slim line configuration and being able to support heavy vehicles travelling at speed; the slim line configuration of the body having a height no more than 25 mm and housing the electronic components; the base for being adhesively secured to the upper surface of the road with negligible damage to the upper surface.
Dans un mode de réalisation préféré de la présente invention, l'invention concerne un capteur de trafic routier comprenant : un corps ayant une base et une partie supérieure ; le corps logeant des composants électroniques comprenant un magnétomètre et une batterie ; le magnétomètre pour surveiller des changements dans le champ magnétique ; le corps ayant une configuration de ligne fine et étant apte à supporter des véhicules lourds se déplaçant à une vitesse ; la configuration de ligne fine du corps ayant une hauteur ne dépassant pas 25 mm et logeant les composants électroniques ; la base étant destinée à être fixée de manière adhésive à la surface supérieure de la route avec un endommagement négligeable par rapport à la surface supérieure.
