A vehicular power source device 1 comprises: a backup power source 6 that is supplied with power from a battery 3 mounted in the vehicle; a booster unit 20 that boosts the voltage of the backup power source 6 to a prescribed boost voltage Vb; a motor drive unit 7 that is connected to the battery 3 and to the booster unit 20, and that is supplied with power from either the battery 3 or the booster unit 20 so as to be capable of driving an electric motor 2; a first switching unit 60 that conducts/cuts off the power supply between the battery 3 and the motor drive unit 7; a control unit 8 that controls the first switching unit 60; and a second switching unit 70 that is provided between the booster unit 20 and the first switching unit 60, and that turns off the first switching unit 60 if the voltage output from the booster unit 20 reaches or exceeds the prescribed boost voltage Vb.
