A soil collecting device (1) comprises a collecting tube (2), a raising and lowering mechanism (10) for lowering the collecting tube (2) to a lowered position a prescribed depth below a soil surface and raising the collecting tube (2) to a raised position above the soil surface, and a pushing shaft (11) disposed in the collecting tube (2) so as to be capable of moving up and down, wherein the pushing shaft (11) is lowered inside the collecting tube when the collecting tube is in the lowered position, to compact soil that is in the collecting tube (2).
