The invention relates to an electromechanical actuator comprising a permanent magnet synchronous type motor (1a) and a motor control unit, the motor comprising: a rotor (3) of cylindrical shape, permanent magnets (12) associated with the rotor and forming magnetic poles, a stator (2) of cylindrical shape, arranged coaxially around the rotor and comprising a plurality of teeth extending radially towards the rotor, and a coil (11) forming a winding around each of the teeth of the stator, and wherein the permanent magnets (12) are based on ferrite, the stator (2) has an outer diameter of less than 55 mm, the rotor (3) comprises recesses (31) forming a flux barrier around a longitudinal axis (X) of the rotor, and the permanent magnets are inserted into the recesses of the rotor.
