This dispersant is characterized by containing a copolymer, the copolymer having a structural unit derived from an unsaturated polyalkylene glycol ether monomer represented by formula (1) (in the formula: R1, R2 and R3 are the same or different and represent a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R4 represents a direct bond, a CH2 group or a CH2CH2 group; AOs are the same or different and represent an oxyalkylene group having 2-18 carbon atoms; n represents the repeating number of the oxyalkylene group and is 1-300; and R5 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having 1-18 carbon atoms) and a structural unit derived from an unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer, wherein the content ratio of the unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer-derived structural unit is 20-70 mass% per 100 mass% of the total structural units, and having a weight-average molecular weight of 5000-35000.
