CATHODE COMPONENT FOR AN ELECTROLYTIC ALUMINIUM PRODUCTION CELL
The present disclosure relates to a cathode component for an electrolytic aluminium production cell, the cathode component comprising a composite material comprising agglomerates, forming a matrix, and aluminium, wherein the agglomerates comprise particulates of titanium diboride (TiB2) and particulates of aluminium nitride (AlN), the composite material further comprising pores such to allow the cathode component to be infiltrated by molten aluminium, e.g. prior to or during its use in said electrolytic aluminium production cell. This provides a cathode component that is wettable by molten aluminium. The present disclosure also relates to an electrolytic aluminium production cell comprising the cathode component, and to a method for producing the cathode component.
La présente divulgation concerne un composant cathode pour une cellule de production d'aluminium électrolytique, le composant cathode comprenant un matériau composite comprenant des agglomérats, formant une matrice, et de l'aluminium, les agglomérats comprenant des particules de diborure de titane (TiB2) et des particules de nitrure d'aluminium (AlN), le matériau composite comprenant en outre des pores de façon à permettre au composant de cathode d'être infiltré par de l'aluminium en fusion, par ex. avant ou pendant son utilisation dans ladite cellule de production d'aluminium électrolytique.
