A fire-resistant structural building panel which, in use, defines a part of an internal wall of a building and which comprises a rectangular timber frame which borders a quantity of high density thermally insulating material. The frame comprises upper and lower horizontal frame members each coated with a solution including an intumescent material and each connected to generally vertical side frame members also coated with a solution containing an intumescent material. A plurality of sheet members are secured to the frame members and are dimensioned to match the dimensions of the rectangular frame along the horizontal sides and one vertical side of the frame but to extend beyond the other vertical side of the frame to define a channel open to receive an additional vertical frame member of width and depth substantially equal to the width and depth of the channel. Each external panel member comprises a plurality of equally dimensioned sheet members each coated on at least one side with a solution of intumescent material and each adhered to its neighbouring sheet or sheets.
L'invention concerne un panneau de construction structural résistant au feu qui, lors de l'utilisation, définit une partie d'une paroi interne d'une construction et qui comprend un cadre en bois rectangulaire entourant une quantité de matériau thermiquement isolant de haute densité. Le cadre comprend des éléments de cadre horizontaux supérieur et inférieur revêtus chacun d'une solution comprenant un matériau intumescent et reliés chacun à des éléments de cadre latéraux généralement verticaux revêtus également d'une solution contenant un matériau intumescent. Une pluralité d'éléments en feuilles sont fixés aux éléments de cadre et sont dimensionnés pour correspondre aux dimensions du cadre rectangulaire le long des côtés horizontaux et d'un côté vertical du cadre mais pour s'étendre au-delà de l'autre côté vertical du cadre pour définir un canal ouvert permettant de recevoir un élément de cadre vertical supplémentaire de largeur et de profondeur sensiblement égales à la largeur et à la profondeur du canal. Chaque élément de panneau externe comprend une pluralité d'éléments en feuilles de dimensions égales, chacun étant revêtu sur au moins un côté d'une solution de matériau intumescent et adhérant chacun à sa feuille ou à la feuille adjacente.
