Embedded Wireless Video Surveillance System for Vehicle
With the recent advancement of the embedded electronics, video compression standards and wireless communications, it has become viable to create a high-powered wireless video surveillance in a vehicle. This paper presents an embedded video surveillance system based on the state-of-the-art of video coding standard H.264/AVC over CDMA 1X and WLAN for vehicle. In order to adapt to the bandwidth variation of wireless channel, video compression algorithms with error resilience and bit rate adaptivity based on H. 264 is utilized to obtain the high quality video. Moreover, a unique transmission mechanism using video server is presented, which can support large scale concurrent users. Buffering considerations on video server smooth the video transport in wireless channel and the error control technology is adopted by video server. Under the ubiquitous architecture of video transmission for Vehicle, the mobile surveillance video can be viewed over internet. Furthermore, control center can be set up anywhere with internet access without being restricted by monitored site locations.
