Comprehensive Analysis of Remote Sensing Indices: Delhi NCR 2000-2023
Urban areas are growing rapidly due to the rising demand for commercial, residential and industrial spaces because of the increase in urban population, urbanization and land development. The sustainability of the environment is negatively impacted by the growth that causes constructed areas at the cost of green space. Comprehending the historical patterns of urban evolution is essential for making well-informed decisions regarding urban planning. Policymakers and decision makers can ensure the resilience and livability of region by addressing environmental sustainability, resource allocation, and infrastructure development through the analysis of RS data. RS techniques are used in this comparative study to provide a comprehensive environmental assessment of the Delhi National Capital Region. The analysis uses multiple remote sensing indicators from 2000 to 2023, such as the LST, NDVI, NDWI and NDBI. Trends in environmental variables are scrutinized through time series analysis of these indices, providing important insights into the changing landscape of the region. The study shows how rapidly land expansion and urbanization have affected Delhi NCR, with major changes found in the indicators we have analysed. A greater understanding of environmental dynamics, such as urban sprawl, vegetation degradation, and changes in water supplies, can be gained from the patterns and trends that are synthesized from these indices. The aforementioned technique helps in taking decisions that promote sustainable development which is meant to lessen environmental problems and build resilient communities while also adding to a more thorough understanding of/urban dynamics.
