The recent economic era featured by disruptive technologies, digitalization and rapid technological changes makes strategic planning of information systems more and more challenging. An emerging concept, enterprise architecture management (EAM) can play a significant role in planning initiatives. This paper demonstrates the prospective use of EAM in strategic planning of information systems and introduces a case study about EAM-oriented approaches in strategic information systems planning. The empirical study focuses on a public sector organization, and presents the characteristics of their strategic information systems planning process and the role of EAM in fostering the design and maintenance of information strategy.
