CVIS: CALM proof of concept preliminary results
ISO TC 204 WG 16 is specifying an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) communication architecture known as CALM for vehicle-vehicle and vehicle-infrastructure types of communications (V2X). The key concept is to support a variety of peer-to-peer communication scenarios between various ITS sub-systems (vehicle, roadside, center and personal), a variety of communication modes (one-to-one or one-to-many), a diversity of applications (ITS safety, ITS non-safety, infotainment) over a diversity of communication channels. IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) is used as the convergence protocol between the various types of applications and the various available communication medium. A proof of this concept is currently underway in the framework of the CVIS European project which further improves and extends the CALM architecture. This paper presents some preliminary experimental results, particularly IPv6 horizontal and vertical handovers and CALM M5 datarate.
