As part of the CLEOPATRA experiment a passive microwave airborne campaign combined with ground truth measurements was carried out in southern Bavaria in summer 1992, to investigate the spatial and temporal variations of wetting/drying of different soil types. A method to combine remotely sensed and ground truth data was developed.<>
