Design and Implementation of a Smart Driver Assistance System
Traffic accidents have led to many deaths and disabilities worldwide. Many road accidents are caused directly by driver drowsiness. The goal of this research paper is to design a low-cost automatic drowsy driver monitoring and accident prevention system. This system is based on monitoring the face of the driver and the driver's handgrip on the steering wheel. The system will detect driver drowsiness and alert him before an accident occurs. The proposed system is based on a microprocessor, infrared camera, hands-off detection sensor, and RF module. A deep neural network based model is developed to detect driver drowsiness. The implemented system was tested, and it detects the driver's drowsiness with a very good accuracy.
