Numerical Simulation of Fire and Safety Evacuation in a University Dormitory
In order to reduce the casualties and property losses caused by dormitory fire, taking a university dormitory building as an example, the smoke movement and safety evacuation situation during fire are studied. Pyrosim and Pathfinder are respectively used to simulate the fire and evacuation processes of a dormitory. The changes of temperature, visibility and CO concentration in the smoke movement are simulated, and the influence of related factors is analysed. Based on the simulated data, the Required Safe Egress Time (RSET) and Available Safe Egress Time (ASET) are calculated. A comparative analysis of the simulation results shows that the fire fighting facilities of the dormitory are insufficient or too old, and it is difficult for all students to evacuate safely in case of fire. Finally, fire safety management measures are proposed to reduce the risk of fire.
