A Generalized Image Encryption Algorithm Utilizing the Single Switch Jerk Chaotic Oscillator
Due to today's constantly evolving online atmosphere the demand for security is at an all time high. Countless forms of media are being shared by users over the internet, with pictures being one such prevalent form. Users require robust forms of encryption when they send and receive images from their target parties. In this paper, a modified image encryption algorithm is discussed based on shuffling pixel arrangements in combination with modifying pixel values using bit-wise XOR. The encryption system is powered by the single switch jerk chaotic oscillator (SJCO) which produces three arrays of pseudo-random numbers based on the oscillator's initial conditions, The oscillator output is used to derive three keys, two shuffle keys and one key to carry out the XOR procedure. The paper also focuses on the implementation of the oscillator using hardware. The oscillator and XOR hardware modules utilized 178 and 5 logical units out of the available 56, 480.
