Landslide Detection in Uttarakhand Region Using Active Remote Sensing
The state of Uttarakhand is vulnerable to frequent landslides. In order to minimise landslide damages, disaster managers and emergency planners may find it helpful to have early warnings or alarms for landslides. The main goal of the research is to identify the landslides area in Uttarakhand. The successful implementation of mitigation measures depends on the early detection of landslides. In this study, image processing using ERDAS Imagine software and data from the Copernicus Open Access Hub are used to detect changes in landslides using Sentinel satellite imagery. The accuracy assessment of the image without landslide the accuracy assessment came out to be 92.12%, with overall kappa coefficient 0.7731. For Forest- 0.7580 barren land- 0.8483. The accuracy assessment of the image after landslide came out to be 94.75%, with overall kappa coefficient 0.6364, For forest-0.7043, for barren land- 0.6008 for landslide -0.5498. Results enable in better landslide monitoring and detection, which benefits risk assessment and mitigation plans in Uttarakhand.
