In northwestern China, such as Qingyang in Gansu province, rural area highway performance is prone to deteriorate and the highway usually has short lifetime due to poor design and construction processes. This paper aimed at providing guidance for asphalt pavement design in Qingyang rural areas, selecting four different types of asphalt pavement structures, calculating and comparing responses of the proposed pavement structures under traffic load. The results show: pavement structure II and IV have better crack resistance and can prevent asphalt pavement future failures, these two types of asphalt pavement can be used in Qingyang rural areas.
