Quiet Pavement Pilot Program: Progress Report 1
Since 2003, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has been conducting a Quiet Pavement Pilot Program (QPPP) in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). This 125 page report summarizes activities completed on the Quiet Pavement Pilot Program to date to the end of November 2004. The QPPP consists of two components: construction and research. The construction consists of overlaying approximately 115 miles of existing urban freeways with asphalt rubber friction course (ARFC) in five separate phases. The research component evaluates the portential for using ARFC as a noise mitigation measure.
