Flood Prediction Methods for Pennsylvania Highway Crossings
The objective of this study was the development of simple methods for hydrologic design of culverts and bridges for Pennsylvania watersheds in the size range from one and one-half to 200 sq. miles. All the annual series data for Pennsylvania watersheds in this range was collected, and the sample was supplemented with data from surrounding states. Also flood hydrograph and corresponding rainfall data was collected. This information was supplemented by quadrangle maps and aerial photos and soils and geologic maps for the watersheds. From these aerial photos and quadrangle maps, numberous parameters describing physical features of the watershed were obtained. (Author)
