Mutual Shielding of Occupants in Residential Home Basements
The mutual shielding effects of occupants in a typical residential home against fallout radiation were calculated using the SAM-CE three-dimensional Monte Carlo code. Absorbed dose in the gut area of the human body were determined under conditions of different density (space-per-person), number of occupants, Position (standing, sitting, or prone) and physical location within the basement. Contributions from fallout on the roof and the ground were considered separately. (Author)
