Behavior of Dowel Reinforcement in Replacement Concrete Structures
This report presents results of forty pull-out tests of reinforcing bars grouted into holes formed in existing concrete. Test parameters include embediment length, hole diameter and bar size. An epoxy grout, a high strength non-shrink grout and an experimental mortar grout were investigated. Slip measurements were taken at both the loaded and unloaded ends of the bar. Bond stress versus slip curves are presented. Recommendations are made for selecting the type grout, hole diameter and embedment length.
