National Dam Safety Program. DeCozen's Dam (NJ00353) Passaic River Basin, Troy Brook, Morris County, New Jersey. Phase I Inspection Report
Based on visual inspection, available records, calculations and past operational performance, De Cozen's Dam, initially listed as a 'high' hazard potential structure, but reduced to a 'significant' hazard potential structure as a result of this inspection, is judged to be in fair overall condition. The dam's spillway is considered inadequate because a flow equivalent to nine percent of the Spillway Design Flood - SDF - would cause the dam to be overtopped. (The SDF, in this instance, is one half of the Probable Maximum Flood).
