Mechanical Properties of Ti-6Al-4V Annealed Forgings
Tests were conducted to determine the mechanical properties of titanium 6Al-4V annealed forgings. Tensile, fracture toughness, and constant amplitude cyclic crack growth properties were obtained along with limited corrosion studies of fastener installations. The tensile properties were determined for three orientations and the fracture toughness properties for four orientations. Some of the tensile and fracture toughness specimens were subjected to a time-temperature exposure before being tested at room temperature. The mechanical properties of the annealed material were similar to those in the literature. The time-temperature exposure cycle slightly altered the mechanical properties of the material. The corrosion tests conducted on the fastener installations did not produce any cracking in the material under the test conditions. (Author)
