Proposed Olympic Wilderness, Olympic National Park, Washington
The National Park Service proposes to establish as wilderness 834,890 acres in Olympic National Park. Establishment of the wilderness areas will result in the preservation of the major portions of the park in a completely undeveloped state, allowing natural succession to continue without interference by man. No significant changes in management will be required, so impacts on adjacent lands or within the park will be minimal. Effects include foregoing the possibility for development of additional visitor-use facilities and the possible restrictions upon backcountry use in the area designated as wilderness.
