Maintenance Dredging, Port Chester Harbor, New York. Navigation Project
It's proposed to dredge the Federal channel, turning basin and anchorage in Port Chester Harbor and Byram River to authorized project dimensions. Disposal of the excavated materials would be in the approved dumping ground in the New York Bight. Environmental impacts are excavation of about 60,000 cubic yards of bottom materials. Improvements are enhanced economy of commodity transportation. Adverse environmental effects are construction disturbance due to disruption of channel bottom and associated life and generation of turbidity; and disposal of excavated material at an already degraded approved dumping area in the New York Bight.
