Evaluation of the Use of Antistripping Additives in Asphaltic Concrete Mixtures
The study was initiated to ascertain if antistripping additives would have any benefical effect in combating stripping. After preliminary tests, one additive was selected for further evaluation and testing. Comparative tests were conducted on the asphaltic cement and hot mix with and without the additive. These tests included: Marshall Immersion, Gyratory Shear Strass and Bearing Resistance, Roadway Cores (Specific gravity and percent compaction), and Asphalt Analysis. The results indicated that the additive had a negligible effect on the properties tested. (BPR abstract)
