Round Robin Test on the Freeze-Thaw Resistance of Precast Concrete Paving Blocks. Nordtest Project No. 1234-95
This report presents an intercomparison test performed between five laboratories concerning the proposed European Standard for testing the freeze-thaw resistance of concrete paving products. The influence of three parameters of the scaling resistance of concrete paving blocks is investigated. The studied parameters are: (1) The number of freeze-thaw cycles when scaling is to be determined; (2) The thickness of the specimens; (3) The depth of the NaCl solution layer. The tests were performed on one quality of paving blocks and show that for this quality the proposed method gives similar results. The only parameter of the three studied that appears to have some influence on the scaling values is the thickness of the specimens.
