Information on the extent and nature of suspended-sediment plumes generated by dredge activities is necessary to enhance understanding of technical issues including sediment transport processes and associated environmental concerns. This technical note reviews recent suspended-sediment plume monitoring projects and evaluates various techniques used to monitor suspended-sediment plumes, including several emerging techniques. Recommendations are provided on techniques for various monitoring requirements.
