A dye tracer study in the lower Piscataqua River, New Hampshire, provided data for calibration of a two-dimensional finite element dispersion model. Approximately 50 pounds of Rhodamine WT dye was released at midchannel and continuous sampling transects were made over a single tidal cycle. Lateral and longitudinal dispersion coefficients were estimated from the measured dye concentration distribution. Recommendations are given regarding future modeling of this river reach.
