Supplemental Freeway, Federal Aid Primary Route 407, East of Quincy, Illinois, Adams County
The report describes the proposed highway project which consists of the construction of a Supplemental Freeway - F.A.P. 407. It will provide a four-lane, fully access controlled facility on the east side of Quincy, Illinois in Adams County for a length of about 10.9 miles. The project begins just south of Illinois Route 96, southeast of Quincy, and extends northerly to just north of U.S. Route 24, northeast of Quincy. The adverse effects of this project are considered significant only in a short-term sense. The land and dwellings usurped by the highway would cause an effect to the property owners involved. No industrial, commercial or recreational areas are adversely affected. All reasonable means will be employed to mitigate harm to the environment and ecology of the area influenced by the highway. The Freeway would have the positive effect of providing a safe, convenient and economical transportation facility for motorists to bypass Quincy on its east side, as well as providing an economic development stimulant for the area.
