Vanadium Alloy Studies
Vanadium development studies were conducted toward the primary objective of producing significantly improved shorttime (minutes to a few hours) creep properties at temperatures between 2000F and 2400F. It was determined that tantalum additions to a V-Cb-Ti base composition result in a significant improvement in creep properties. However, further improvement, without sacrifice of fabricability and other properties, is necessary for utilization of this material at 2200F to 2400F. Various approaches relying upon production of a stable dispersant at 2200 - 2400F are being employed to accomplish this objective. (Author)
