The City of Girard is a 'Bedroom Community' supplying the labor force for the adjacent industrial activity, and as such requires a larger percentage of land activity devoted to housing. While the city is average in land area, its density is higher as compared to adjacent communities. Recent trends have been toward multi-family units. The city itself does not contain sufficient problems in either quality or quantity of its housing inventory. Normal techniques were used in the analysis within the study. Sources of data were derived from the 60 and 70 U.S. Census of Housing, local statistics and reports and project surveys. (Author)
