Automatic Plastic Analysis of Braced Subassemblages
The plastic analysis and design of steel columns in a braced frame involves determining the moment-rotation characteristics of the columns and girders in appropriate subassemblages and combining them to evaluate the maximum resistance of the joints. Much of this routine work is still being executed by hand because of the inability to generate and combine by computer the moment-rotation curves of the columns in a simple and straightforward manner. The report describes a computer method which can efficiently carry out these important functions not only for rolled I-sections, but also for other common structural shapes. (Author)
