Mays Meter Determination of Serviceability Ratings (Surface Characteristics of Pavements)
The Mays Ride Meter (M.R.M.), manufactured by Rainhart of Austin, Texas, was field tested to determine its operational characteristics. The roughness of a number of highway sections was measured using the M.R.M. The M.R.M. numbers were compared to subjective ratings given to these same highway sections by a panel of engineers. These values were correlated and a Roughness Evaluation Table was developed.
