Dredging of Oregon Slough, North Portland Harbor, Oregon
The project proposes construction of a navigation channel extension 40-feet-deep and 400-feet-wide from Columbia River to Oregon Slough river mile 1.5; maintenance dredging of approximately 35 acres of river bottom annually will yield 118,000 cubic yards of dredged material from the Federal project and 50,000 cubic yards dredged by local interests to be placed on about four acres of upland; maintenance dredging will result in coverage of approximately 200 acres over the 50-year project life. Dredging will occr at three year intervals. Environmental impacts are discussed.
