Finite Element Medling of Reinforced Concrete Bridge Decks with ABAQUS
The finite element method is still a predominant technique for the analysis of reinforced concrete (RC) structures and can be a very effective tool to offset expensive experimental techniques. One commercially available finite element code, ABAQUS, has the unique ability to model the nonlinear behavior of concrete and steel as independent entities. This project will establish the methodology of modeling a typical RC bridge deck using ABAQUS and predict displacements, strains and stresses under normal traffic loads.
