Qualitative Analysis of Housing Conditions, 1973, City of Gainesville, Florida
The housing study highlights in detail the quality and quantity of the housing stock in the city of Gainesville, Fl. Such data serves as a valuable tool in identifying specific geographical areas by census tracts, enumeration districts, and most important, by blocks, as to their housing conditions. An inventory was made of the federally assisted housing programs completed and their vacancy ratios. Analysis is also given to the city's housing code enforcement program. In addition to the examination of geographical areas, an analysis is made regarding the general social and economic characteristics of the resident population, particularly where the most blight appears; there exists here a high concentration of Black residents. These areas, as previously defined by several studies on housing conditions in the city, will demand the most immediate attention. Lastly, several most important references were utilized in the preparation of this study.
