Duurzaamheid Buitenhuid Beton (Durability of Outer Shell of Concrete)
While a great deal of work has been done to improve the appearance of concrete, in practice the results are to often inadequate. There are numerous examples of concrete which has been affected by pollution, algae growth, frost damage or chemical corrosion. This study is aimed at determining the characteristics of the outside layer of the concrete which is subject to these various forms of corrosion. The study centered on the durability aspect and gathered data on the making of concrete which is less sensitive to corrosion. The study was limited to concrete (1) with esthetic requirements, (2) as base for another finish (paint, plaster, tiles), (3) exposed to corrosion. The study was further limited to vertical surfaces.
