When scaling unlimbed pulpwood at winter snow and ice will cause an increased weight on the loads. This investigation is made in purpose to get an idea of the weight of snow and ice in truckloads of unlimbed pulpwood. The goal is to find a practical method to measure it. Totally 36 piles of unlimbed pulpwood have been measured during the winter 1982/83. The average amount of snow and ice in a pile was 16.1% and maximum for a single pile was 39%.
