A study was designed to evaluate public fire fighting operations. Information was developed on how fire fighting operations are performed under a variety of field conditions. The primary body of data consists of information extracted from reports on seventy-three (73) fires. Useful correlations between the following parameters are presented: (a) Water Application Rate Density for Control vs Fire Area; (b) Water Application Rate for Control vs Fire Area; (c) Fire Control Time vs Fire Area; (d) Man-Hours Expended for the Complete Fire Fighting Operation vs Fire Area. In this case the fire area represents the maximum floor area of the space involved in the fire. (Author)
