An Indirect Tensile Test for Stabilized Materials. Evaluation of Tensile Properties of Subbases for Use in New Rigid Pavement Design
The authors state that direct tensile tests present serious difficulties in gripping the test specimen and in eliminating eccentricity of loading. Presented is an alternate method to measure tensile properties of granular-stabilized materials. In this test method, a cylindrical specimen is strip-loaded in compression along its longitudinal axis. Five factors affecting the test results are discussed in the report with supporting data included. Testing apparatus and test conditions are recommended on the basis of the study. (BPR abstract)
