The Activity of Limnoria tripunctata in Piling Cut-offs from Naphthalene-Enriched Creosoted Pilings
Cut-offs from piling treated with creosote plus additional naphthalene at four levels were exposed to Limnoria tripunctata both in the laboratory and in the field. After one year of exposure, laboratory exposures indicate 10% and 20% additives to be more resistant to borer attack than the 30% to 40% additive samples. Field studies showed the 30% additive provided the best protection. The molluscan borer Pholadidae entered all discs exposed under field conditions. (Author)
