Experimental Study of Firebrand Generation
Experiments were performed to assess the capability of various roof constructions to produce firebrands when subjected to a building fire. These tests of roof segments were conducted by placing the roofs over the top of a two story fire chamber and, by means of a screen trap and quenching pool, collecting all brands generated. Effects of different building heights (unrestricted fire height) and wind induced internal pressures were simulated by imposing additional pressure on the fire chamber interior. (Author)
