In recent years, more efforts have been made for multi-layer building components meeting the requirements of building physics and fire prevention technology like fire protection, heat and noise insulation. Based on studies performed on PUR sandwich plates to-date, two types of sandwich plates with metal facings and inorganic core layers consisting of perlite concrete and fibre silicate webs are tested. A method for calculating and dimensioning inorganic sandwich components is developed which bears on the non-linear performance of the steel facings under load and on the non-linear shear deformation behaviour of the screw plugs. The components under study may be spanned as single-span girders up to 7 m depending on cross-sectional structure or even farther as multispan girders. The dissertation aims above all at demonstrating possible design approaches and calculations of inorganic sandwich plates. (ERA citation 10:020887)
